The CRA Voluntary Disclosure Program – Canada
The Canada Revenue Agency’s Voluntary Disclosure Program allows Canadian taxpayers to avoid the potential penalties associated with filing late Canadian Income tax returns.
The taxpayer can submit form RC199 to apply for the voluntary disclosure, however certain conditions must first be met.
The disclosure must:
- be voluntary
- be complete
- involve a penalty
- be over one year past the due date
The taxpayer will qualify for relief under the program if all of these conditions are met assuming that they have not yet been contacted by the CRA regarding the past due returns.
If you still have to file past due tax returns it’s best to get some professional advice before proceeding. Give me a call at 250-661-9417 or email at phil@philhogan.com and I would be happy to discuss your past due tax returns and the possibility of filing under the voluntary disclosure program.
